Will Hall will return for a fourth season at Southern Miss, according to multiple reports on Saturday.
Southern Miss is 3-8 entering its season finale against Sun Belt West champion Troy on Saturday.
On the whole, Southern Miss is 13-22 overall and 8-15 in conference play under Hall. The Golden Eagles went 7-6 with a victory in the LendingTree Bowl last season.
The 43-year-old was one of the most successful head coaches in Division II before transitioning to FBS, originally as the offensive coordinator at Louisiana. He went 25-11 as the head coach at West Alabama and 31-9 at West Georgia.
Southern Miss was one of the most successful Group of 5 programs for nearly two decades, stringing together winning seasons annually from 1994 through 2011, and again from 2015 to '19, but the program is still looking to find its footing in the Sun Belt, and program officials believe a fourth year under Hall will get them closer to that point than a first season under someone else.
"We don't think that we are that far away," a source told ESPN. "Even if the record isn't where we want it to be, we don't think we are that far away from getting there."
