The Florida State search has already gotten one Big Ten coach paid, and it looks like the 'Noles aren't done.
Indiana AD Fred Glass has confirmed he's working on a new contract for head Hoosier Tom Allen.
“As I publicly suggested before the season and publicly reaffirmed a week or so ago, I expect to do a new contract with Tom,” Glass told the Indianapolis Star.
Allen has Indiana at 7-2, which already matches IU's most wins in a season since 1993. Two more victories would match the program's single-season win record. (Yes, you read that correctly: IU has never won 10 games in a season.)
What's more: Allen's 17 wins is already the most for a Hoosier coach in his first three seasons on the job since World War II -- with five games still remaining in his third season.
A former Indiana high school coach, Allen is under contract through 2022 with a $1.8 million salary, the lowest in the Big Ten according to USA Today. In fact, Allen is currently the lowest-paid among all Power 5 head coaches, placing him $500,000 below what Rutgers paid Chris Ash and $700,000 below LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.
Assuming Rutgers will pay up to find Ash's replacement, Allen would need an $800,001 raise to surpass what the next lowest-paid Big Ten coach, Maryland's Mike Locksley, will earn in 2020.
