Bruce Barnum will not return at Portland State, the program announced Saturday night. AD Matt Billings also announced that the entire coaching staff will not be retained, and a national search will begin immediately.
The Vikings concluded a 1-11 season with a 24-13 loss to Northern Colorado on Saturday.
Barnum spent 16 seasons with the program, the final 11 as head coach. He exits Portland State with a 39-75 overall record. The Vikings went 9-3 with a trip to the second round of the FCS playoffs and a No. 10 final ranking in his debut season of 2015, but the club did not enjoy a winning record under his leadership after that.
