Wichita State: Wichita State University’s High Performance Training Department has 3 UNPAID internship opportunities available for the 2015 fall semester. Successful candidates will gain valuable experience in the coordination of intercollegiate high performance training systems, individualized program design and implementation, functional athlete assessments, on-the-floor coaching, and athlete-monitoring programs. Minimum Qualifications include: Ability to excel within a collaborative team environment; strong work ethic; punctuality; enthusiasm; desire to further one’s career in the field of high performance training. In addition, you will work within a CSCCa approved mentorship program gaining the necessary time commitment for candidates seeking to obtain the gold-standard SCCC certification. Preferred Qualifications include: Pursuing Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Measurement and Evaluation, and/or Nutrition; SCCC or USAW certifications; CPR certification and coaching experience. The position responsibilities are diverse and may include but are not limited to: assisting the assessment of athletes’ performance and injury prediction models; collection and entry of key performance indicators, collaboration with sport-physiologists and on-campus sport science resources, and assisting in the physical preparation coaching of individual and team sessions. Wake Forest: Wake Forest University is accepting applications for a volunteer Sports Performance Intern to contribute to the Football Sports Performance program for the Fall of 2015 . The successful candidate must display a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. In addition, they must be committed to enhancing themselves and the department through a continued eagerness to learn and develop professionally. Qualified candidates will serve the Football program as a non-counted coach that will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. Compensation: Division I Intercollegiate experience and college credit towards graduation if applicable. Preferred qualifications: senior status, bachelor’s degree, graduate student or recently graduated in a program geared towards strength and conditioning. Coastal Carolina: Coastal Carolina University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Speed, Strength and Conditioning Assistant (full-time, temporary position) in the Department of Athletics. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing program planning and implementation for assigned sports; assisting with all aspects of football; supervising volunteer interns; maintaining and up keeping of facilities; performing other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Speed, Strength, and Conditioning. Requirements: Bachelor's degree is required. One of either NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa-SCCC required. Additionally, First Aid/CPR certification is required. Experience in intercollegiate athletics is preferred. Normal work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend and evening hours will be required. Ole Miss: The Department of Strength and Conditioning (Basketball) at the University of Mississippi is now accepting volunteer internship applications for the fall and spring semesters. This is an unpaid position. Responsibilities include assisting with supervision of training programs, assisting with daily facility maintenance, and all other departmental functions. Intern qualifications: Punctuality; Strong communication skills; Strong work ethic; Ability to follow directions. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s in Exercise Science or related field; CPR/AED certified; CSCS, SCCC, and/or USAW certification. Interns will receive experience working at the Division 1 level, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Kentucky: The University of Kentucky High Performance program is seeking three unpaid/uncompensated interns for the Fall of 2015. A STRONG background in physiology and statistical experience is preferred. Daily duties will consist of assisting the High Performance staff in implementing physical preparation programs and assisting in tracking and logging data for the sports science program. In addition daily duties will include implementing athlete monitoring systems, generic maintenance/cleaning of the training facility, statistical analysis and data input along with other assigned duties. All interns will participate in a comprehensive internship program covering all aspects of the High Performance Program. We are seeking candidates that can begin their internship as early as August 7, 2015 and as late as September 1, 2015. Preference will be given to applicants who can start at the beginning of August. Houston: The University of Houston Athletic Performance Department is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Performance Interns for Football and Olympic Sports for the Fall of 2015. The Houston Performance staff is looking for highly motivated, aspiring strength coaches that want to work at the collegiate level of strength and conditioning. The program is beneficial for undergraduate student and the post bachelor professional looking for experience; as well as develops the necessary skills to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. The successful candidates will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 40 hours per week with the Athletic Performance Department. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. No monetary compensation will be provided. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in the field of Exercise Science or related and prior experience participating in college athletics, however it is not a requirement. Central Arkansas: The Strength & Conditioning staff at the University of Central Arkansas is now accepting applications for its 2015 Fall Internship Program. This is an unpaid position. No monetary compensation will be provided. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength & conditioning, as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. Candidates interested in this position should be hardworking, passionate, and detail orientated individuals, who have the desire to work in the strength & conditioning field at the collegiate level. Applicants should hold a BA/BS in Exercise Science or a Health Related field or in their Senior year. They should be working toward certification as a SCCC through the CSCCa, or a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA. Responsibilities will include: Daily clean up and maintenance of the facility and all its equipment. Setup and break down of weight room and field for all athletic workouts, and supervision of training sessions. This program will also consist of weekly educational projects and reports.
