Sources: TCU beefing up defensive staff with former FBS coordinator (TCU)

After more than a decade on staff at Tulsa, including spending all of 2022 as defensive coordinator for the Golden Hurricane, Luke Olson has found a new coaching home.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Olson is joining the defensive staff of national runner-up TCU and head coach Sonny Dykes.

The move also represents a reunion of sorts for Olson, a Tulsa, Okla., native who played at Southern Nazarene University.

Olson’s former boss and mentor at Tulsa, Joe Gillespie, is entering his second season atop the Horned Frogs’ defense after being hired away from Tulsa for the post in December 2021.

Olson will serve as senior defensive analyst on Gillespie’s Horned Frogs defensive staff.

After a sensational breakthrough campaign in which they advanced in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Michigan before losing to Georgia in the title bout, the Horned Frogs are set to open their 2023 season at home September 2 against the Colorado Buffaloes and new coach Deion Sanders.
