Ricky Rahne's letter: 'No pandemic or cancellation is going to dampen my love of this game or profession' (Featured)

Though it didn't grab the headlines of their more-moneyed peers, Old Dominion joined the growing ranks of FBS programs that will not play this fall.

In fact, Old Dominion beat the Big Ten and the Pac-12 to the punch, becoming the first Conference USA to bow out this season, and the third individual FBS program to call it quits for the fall of 2020.

It wasn't for a lack of effort. Leading the youngest staff in the country, Ricky Rahne's team had split into three different squads in an effort to get below the state of Virginia's limit of 50-person gatherings. Even then, the ODU administration did not feel comfortable playing this fall.

Even without a season, Rahne will remain Old Dominion's head coach. He explained what that means in this wonderful letter below.

Make sure you stick around for the whole thing.
