Sources: Ashland hiring D-III coordinator to coordinator role (jim cordle)

Jim Cordle has been an FCS and Division II and III coordinator, and his latest role will require him to fill some significant shoes.

Cordle stepped away from his role as the offensive coordinator at Ohio Northern (D-III) earlier this week and sources tell FootballScoop he is taking an opportunity to join the staff as Ashland (D-II - OH).

There, he will replace longtime Ashland assistant Doug Geiser, who spent sixteen seasons on staff in a variety of roles before he was elevated to head coach back in January.

We understand Cordle will serve as associate head coach / offensive line coach / run game coordinator.

Cordle, a former Ohio State offensive lineman and Super Bowl champion with the New York Giants, arrives after previous coordinator stops at Urbana (D-II - OH) and Long Island (FCS).

He got his coaching career started as a graduate assistant at Ohio State and will bring significant recruiting ties throughout Ohio with him.

Ashland is coming off a very successful 10-2 campaign and will enter year one of the Geiser era after being led by Lee Owens for 19 successful seasons.

Geister is just the fourth head coach in the program's history.
