Frank Solich has signed a 2-year extension at Ohio, the school has announced.

He will remain under contract for the 2020 and '21 seasons, through his 77th birthday. Solich indicated his plans to return earlier this fall.

"Frank Solich is a future hall of fame coach with an impeccable national reputation. We are proud of the culture of athletic and academic success he and his staff have established at Ohio University and we appreciate Frank's deep commitment to our institution," said Ohio AD Julie Cromer. "We look forward to his continued leadership of our football program."

The winningest head coach in MAC history, Solich is 112-81 in 15 seasons at Ohio and 170-100 in 21 total seasons as a head coach.

Financial terms were not disclosed. He earned $654,000 in 2019, third most in the MAC.

Solich will conclude his 15th season at Ohio opposite Nevada in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Friday.
