Bo Pelini says marijuana is a "horrible problem" in society right now (Nebraska)

Bo Pelini's traditional Big Red Breakfast took a turn from the gridiron to a different kind of grass on Friday morning, according to the Omaha World-Herald. Pelini stated his belief that marijuana is a "real problem out there" stretch from grade school and up through society.

"Let’s face it, it’s not OK," said Pelini. "I think everybody that’s our age, my age, hopefully understands that it’s not OK. It’s not good. It’s not good for you. And these kids do it on a daily basis and a yearly basis … and it’s a real problem out there."

Similar to Bob Bowlsby's address at Big 12 media days, where the commissioner said cheating was a rampant problem everywhere in college athletics except the Big 12, Pelini painted a picture for the Husker faithful of dorm rooms across America suffocating in pot smoke. Everywhere except Lincoln, of course.

"Fortunately for us it is not (an issue) in our program. But I can tell you around college football and college athletics … serious in college," he said. "I guarantee you walk into dorms nowadays and it is a horrible problem."

Pelini's team opens its season against Florida Atlantic on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, BTN). The Owls replaced their previous head coach Carl Pelini, Bo's defensive coordinator at Nebraska from 2008-11, in December, after some drug-related issues came to light.
