Steve Sarkisian takes aim at ESPN, doubles down on intent to stay at Texas (Featured)

Yesterday, Sark felt compelled to address his future at Texas after some seemingly random comments from ESPN's Desmond Howard, where the ESPN personality stoked the fires of the Texas faithful while he was taking out the trash by stating, "Don't be surprised if that Texas job opens up at the end of the season."

With current openings at big-time programs like LSU and Florida, as well as two NFL openings (Giants and Titans), and Sarkisian's previous stop calling plays in the league for the Falcons, those comments didn't sit well with Longhorns fans who have seen their preseason #1 ranking melt away into a 7-3 record with two games remaining.

Sark's comments yesterday on the SEC teleconference were rather general (likely by design), just noting that "People reporting or insinuating that there’s a possibility I could leave the University of Texas...and that’s absolutely false and untrue," before also adding "I'm not going anywhere."

Well today, Sark was asked who exactly that spirited message was intended for, and he made it pretty clear.

"It was for everybody," he opened his response by chuckling.

"It might have just been for me, I don't know. The thing about yesterday was this, at the end of the day, I have a locker room full of players who give me everything they have at the end of the day. The last thing I want is for them to feel as though what people are saying about me, outside our building, is serving as a distraction for them, and or their families. But also, I wanted to say that for Longhorn Nation. Because I don't want them, or anybody here, to feel like, 'Boy, Sark is window shopping or maybe he is trying to go.'"

"I'm not trying to go anywhere," he insisted, before he getting specific on who his previous message was aimed at.

"It is also for some of our opponents that I am not going anywhere, so stay out of our locker room. And maybe for some of the pundits out there that don't cover me and our program on a regular basis. So that they understand they can't just take their trash out and have a thought to think, 'Hey, I think Texas is going to have a job opening.'"

Before moving onto the rest of his comment, can we pause for a moment at the absurdity to suggest that ESPN is an outlet that doesn't doesn't cover him and his program on a regular basis? Texas is arguable the largest brand in college football. C'mon. Okay, moving past that.

"I don't know. Think about something else when you are taking your trash out."

If it wasn't clear for folks where that message was directed yesterday, Sark lays it out as plain as can be.
