It's not every season we see coaches of blue blood college football programs making public statements about their intent to stay put, but with openings already at highly coveted places like LSU and Florida, çoaches having to address speculation about them leaving their current posts in becoming a trend.
Lincoln Riley made a statement to reporters after his intention of staying at USC was pulled into question by Josh Pate, and now Steve Sarkisian is doing the same.
Steve Sarkisian was compelled to do the same today.
First, it's important to note that Sark felt pulled to address the rumor that the Texas job may be open this off season because of unprompted comments that Desmond Howard decided to take to social media and share.
Happy Monday AM! A lil sumthin sumthin you can only get here.#justmythoughts pic.twitter.com/sXy9neKUhD

Today, on the SEC teleconference call, Sark took time to address that.
"People reporting or insinuating that there’s a possibility I could leave the University of Texas...and that’s absolutely false and untrue."
"I am not going anywhere." Sark stated
The comment from Howard also got the attention, and a response, from Longhorns athletic director Chris Del Conte as well, who responded earlier this week with "This is news to me...Thanks for the insight," complete with a facepalm emoji.
While Sark has spent the majority of his coaching career at the college level, he does have a few seasons of NFL experience as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons in 2017 and 2018, and there's always been speculation that maybe a return to the NFL may be in the cards for the coaching veteran.
Now in his fifth season of his rebuild in Austin, Sark is 45-20 overall leading the Longhorns. He's just 7-3 this season though, a bit disappointing for the team who started off as the preseason #1 team in the country following a deep playoff run last season that ended with a loss to eventual national champion Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl of the College Football Playoff semifinals.
The Longhorns end their 2025 regular season with two home games. First up, is this weekend against Arkansas and interim head coach Bobby Petrino before a big regular season finale facing the #3 ranked team in the country with Mike Elko and Texas A&M coming to town.
