First-year head coach Eddie George has decided to make a change at offensive coordinator at Bowling Green.
Travis Partridge, who worked as George's offensive play caller last season at Tennessee State (FCS) before following him to the MAC, has been let go.
The move becomes the sixth offensive coordinator change since the start of the season. You can track all the offensive coordinator changes via this page.
"Unfortunately, our offensive performance is not achieving expectations. We want to thank Travis for his contributions to the Bowling Green program," George shared in a statement.
"We want to thank Travis and his family for their commitment and efforts during our transition to Bowling Green this year. We wish nothing but the best for Travis in his next step professional."
It's unclear who is stepping into the offensive play calling role for the Falcons at this time.
Greg Nosal, whose time at BGSU predates the hiring of George as a member of the staff since 2020, currently serves as the program's co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He was elevated to the co-offensive coordinator role in 2022 under former head coach Scot Loeffler.
Under George at Tennessee State, Partridge's offenses were one of the best at the FCS level, ranking 11th nationally in passing offense, while quarterback Draylen Ellis ranked 14th nationally with 24 touchdowns through the air.
Unfortunately, that success did not translate at the FBS level.
Nine games into the season, George and the Falcons are sitting at 3-6, and offensively they rank 126th out of 136 teams in scoring offense (at just over 18 points per game) and total offense (305 yards per game), and are 123rd nationally in passing yards at just under 158 yards per game.
Before joining George at Tennessee State, Partridge served as the pass game coordinator / quarterbacks coach at UT Martin for two seasons, and he spent spring of 2021 at the FBS level with Kansas as quarterbacks coach, where he was elevated after two seasons in a quality control role for the Jayhawks.
A former standout quarterback at Missouri Western State, Partridge played under his father Jerry (now the assistant head coach at UT-Martin) from 2009-13, where he set a number of program records including passing yards, touchdowns and completion percentage.
George and Bowling Green are set to take on Eastern Michigan on the road this Saturday. That is followed by a home game against Akron and a road trip to take on UMass as the Falcons fight for bowl eligibility in their first season under the former NFL and Ohio State Buckeye icon.
