Central Arkansas (FCS): The University of Central Arkansas Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for Football for the summer 2014 semester. The UCA staff is looking for highly motivated, knowledgeable, aspiring strength coaches that want to work at the collegiate level. The program is beneficial for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience; as well as developing characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. The successful candidates will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 40 hours per week with the Strength & Conditioning Department. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. NO monetary compensation will be provided. Ideal candidates will have or be working towards an Exercise Science related bachelor’s degree and at least one of the following certifications: CSCS; SCCC; USAW but are not required. Merrimack College (D-II - MA): Merrimack College is accepting applications for the Summer 2014 Strength and Conditioning Internships. Merrimack is a Catholic Institution located in North Andover, MA with more than 2,000 students, and is a member of NCAA Division I Hockey East and also of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 conference. Responsibilities for the position will entail assisting in implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for Men’s Ice Hockey and Football. Interns will assist with all strength, speed, and conditioning training, as well as weight room maintenance and upkeep. Interns may also be responsible for the design and implementation of programs for 1-2 teams. All interns will also be required to complete an educational curriculum consisting of various assignments and presentations throughout the internship.This is an unpaid position. Preferred Qualifications: Working towards a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing CSCS or relevant certification. Required Qualifications: Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to learn. Villanova (FCS): The Villanova Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for a 12 month paid internship position. The 12 month internship will begin May 20, 2014 and end May 19, 2015. The position will include a $1000/month stipend and meals. Individuals will have opportunities to earn extra income through On-Campus programs and events. Individuals selected will receive an all encompassing and unique experience working with both Football and Olympic sports. This position will have responsibilities of an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with daily responsibilities including but not limited to the following: program design and implementation for assigned varsity teams; managing the nutrition bar; design and implementation of volunteer intern program and curriculum; monitoring, cleaning, and organizing the sports performance facility; assisting head strength and conditioning coaches for Football and Olympic Sports in all aspects of the sports performance program. Requirements: CPR/AED certification is required, Prior internship experience is also required, Qualified applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and must have one of the following certifications: CSCS, SCCC, PES, USAW, experience in acceleration and speed development in large group settings preferred. Preferred Requirements: Prior internship experience working with Division I Football and 3 or more Olympic sports teams is also preferred, Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology/Science or related field preferred, Two or more of the following certifications: CSCS, SCCC, PES, USAW, ACSM, FMS, USATF, CES, Previous athletic playing experience preferred.
