VMI (FCS): Jimmy Whitten has been elevated to strength coach for the Keydets' football program. He had served as the strength coach for VMI's other sports for the past 11 years.
Illinois: The University of Illinois Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for four Volunteer Interns for the Fall of 2014. The internship begins August 25th and ends December 12th. These are unpaid positions. However, these positions offer an opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree based on circumstance. The interns that are selected will also have the opportunity to accumulate internship hours as it relates to preparation for the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) Certification Process. Daily responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, assistance in the supervision of the University of Illinois Football team set up and breakdown for daily strength and conditioning activities, routine maintenance, cleaning, and organization of the training facility. Characteristics desired of an intern include great work ethic, strong desire to enhance knowledge of strength and conditioning, attention to detail, punctuality, and accountability. Iowa State: Adam Potts and Brett Bueker have joined the staff as assistant strength and conditioning coaches for football. Potts arrives from Lamar, where he was an assistant strength coach, and Bueker was promoted from a GA position.
New Mexico Highlands (D-II): New Mexico Highlands University is hiring a full time Head athletic trainer that will work with Football. No teaching responsibilities at this point but could progress in that direction in time. North Dakota State (FCS): The North Dakota State University Strength & Conditioning Department is actively seeking applicants for two paid internship positions (1 Olympic sports, 1 football) within our program for the 2014-15 academic year. These positions are for the entire school year will run from August to May. Interns can expect to gain valuable, hands on experience in areas such as program design, exercise instruction, plyometric, speed and agility techniques, conditioning, facility and athlete management. Internship responsibilities will vary and will include various duties within the NDSU Strength & Conditioning Department. Hours will vary throughout the semester and may include early morning, late afternoon, or weekend hours. Requirements: Bachelorβs degree in a related field required, CSCS preferred. Must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning, possess an excellent work ethic and have the ability to take initiative and be pro-active. Previous weight room or athletic coaching experience preferred. Compensation: $6000 stipend per year. Academic credit available.
