The three seasons and change of Shahid Khan's ownership of the Jacksonville Jaguars haven't gone as planned on the field, but, man, the man knows how to push the envelope with his facilities.
The Jags introduced the two-level party suite to EverBank Field before last season - which has since been copied by Central Florida - and now they've introduced a new idea: a rooftop, riverfront practice field. (Or, perhaps, they saw our article about Union City High School from October.)
The plan is part of a new shipyards project unveiled by Khan on Tuesday.
“The Shipyards would give Downtown Jacksonville the kind of iconic identity that many downtown districts in the United States enjoy and we currently lack,” Khan said. “But it doesn’t work or make sense if it doesn’t provide jobs, boost our economy and self-confidence, stabilize the future of the Jaguars franchise and improve our overall quality of life. Our proposal to partner with the City of Jacksonville on this project will achieve this and more.

Like all NFL facilities looking for public approval, there's probably more in it for the Jags (and Khan) than the city of Jacksonville, but here's hoping the three-tiered practice facility becomes a reality.
