Like many of its kind, "Clemsoning" is a meme that far outlived its usefulness.
Back in the day, mostly under the reign of Tommy Bowden, Clemson was known for following up big wins with inexplicable losses to bad teams. The phenomenon even has its own Urban Dictionary listing.
While the act of ranked teams losing to unranked ones happens weekly in college football (see: UCLA's loss to Arizona State last week), the phrase no longer applies to its namesake. The Tigers trounced Georgia Tech 43-24 on Saturday, their 33rd straight win over an unranked team.
When a reporter asked Dabo Swinney about overcoming "Clemsoning," the Tigers' head coach went off.
Tell 'em, coach.
