Monday May 2nd directors of football operations & other support staff from over 100 programs nationwide will meet in Tampa, Florida at what has grown to become an annual must-attend event for those in the profession. Over the past five years I've watched this event improve as a learning, sharing and networking event significantly and this year's agenda appears to be the best one yet.
Full agenda is below; but a couple of observations. First, the agenda allows time for the group to hear more about very real day to day issues for the collective group (office staffing & structure, recruiting & compliance issues, satellite camps, game day technology, etc...). I also like that Tom Kleinlein is coming to speak to the group. I remember 5+ years ago when TK was the DFO at Arizona State and helped turn this into an annual event. Now the Director of Athletics at Georgia Southern, Kleinlein will share with the group the steps he took to advance his career.
Throw in a facility tour of USF and a social the night before, along with discussion & coordination with Layla Brock of the College Football Playoff and this sounds like a great opportunity for learning & networking within the profession.

Mack Butler, director of football operations at Oklahoma State, added, "The topics this year are very relevant to what our group deals with on a daily basis and both Tom Kleinlein and Layla Brock are dynamic speakers. I look forward to seeing everyone Sunday & Monday and want to be sure to thank all of the sponsors & contributors who help us so much with this event and in our regular operations."
The meeting is free to attend; but all are asked to RSVP to Oregon director of operations Kyle Wiest (kwiest@uoregon.edu).
