Jason Cole of Bleacher Report has an illuminating update on the Indianapolis Colts, which we've embedded below.
The Colts were a team many in the NFL thought could make a coaching change prior to this season, and a 3-3 start has only fanned those flames. Cole says GM Ryan Grigson has increasingly meddled with day-to-day football decisions, angering head coach Chuck Pagano. If Grigson is likely to move on from Pagano after this season, Cole also paints a picture that owner Jim Irsay could also move on from Pagano as well - particularly if a high-profile coach like Nick Saban or Sean Payton is brought in to replace Pagano. Wouldn't that be interesting.
While all those potential moves would have a major effect on the NFL coaching market, so, too, could the ripple effects from a potential change. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, who has been in play for a number of coaching opportunities in the past, had a successful run as the offensive coordinator at Stanford and played college ball at Howard in the Washington, D.C. area. Could he be in play at Maryland? And what of associate head coach Rob Chudzinkski? A former NFL head coach, Chudzinksi, if not retained, would be a highly sought after free agent this winter. A lot to keep an eye on in Indy as this all plays out.
