Warner University (NAIA - FL) wasted no time in naming a replacement for the retiring Rod Shafer, and they got a rare dual threat in their new head coach - Kirk Talley.
Talley joined the program as defensive coordinator following a successful run as the head coach at University of Northwestern-St. Paul (D-III - MN), where he left as the school's all-time wins leader with a record of 112-51, and also led the school to their first ever appearance in the Division III playoffs back in 2016.
But here's where that dual threat piece comes into play. Sure Talley has spent times on both sides of the ball, even coordinating both offense and defense at different points in his coaching career, but that's not the type of dual threat I'm talking about here.
In their release naming Talley the new leader of the program, Warner included what has to be a first in official releases - a rap video featuring their new head coach they dug up from over a decade ago, while he was still at Northwestern-St. Paul.
Coach AND rapper (with his own music video)? Very rare indeed.
Here's that video, and a link to the school's full release.
