Texas officially fires Charlie Strong (Featured)

Texas has fired Charlie Strong, the school announced Saturday morning.

While reports first emerged on Sunday that Texas would move on from Strong, leadership in Austin pushed the decision back until later in the week -- allowing Strong to forcefully campaign to keep his job in a SportsCenter-televised press conference on Monday. Any last-ditch reversal, though, was contingent on beating TCU on Friday, and the Longhorns ultimately fell 31-9 to the Horned Frogs. The loss cemented a 16-21 3-year run for Strong, the first back-to-back-to-back losing seasons for Texas since 1936-38.

In the meantime, Strong is already being mentioned as a candidate for a possible opening at Cincinnati.

As always, stay tuned to the latest on The Scoop.
