Stanford: Longtime head strength coach Shannon Turley has parted ways with the program, according to Cardinal Sports Report.
Ole Miss: The University of Mississippi Olympic Strength and Conditioning Staff is looking to fulfill summer and/or fall 2019 volunteer internship positions for those interested in a career in strength and conditioning. This specific volunteer intern position will have primary responsibilities working with baseball and cheerleading in the new Baseball Performance Center Weight Room, but will have opportunities to work with other teams if desired. To be eligible, you must be pursuing or hold a degree in a field related to exercise science. Candidates must also be able to pass a background check and hold a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Those who have, or are actively pursuing, the CSCS or CSCCa certifications are preferred. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs, participation in an educational curriculum that will involve meetings and demonstrations with the strength staff, and monitoring/ maintenance of the strength and conditioning training facilities. Successful completion of this internship will provide invaluable collegiate strength and conditioning experience in the SEC and references. This internship can also serve as a means of obtaining course credit for applicable courses (i.e. exercise science or coaching internships). Houston: The University of Houston Strength and Performance Department is seeking highly motivated hard-working individuals who are in pursuit of experience in the field of human performance. The University of Houston Sports and Performance Department is looking to fill 2019 summer internship positions -- paid and unpaid. If accepted to fill the position, you will be expected to start as soon as possible and no later than May 27th. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with and observe all athletes that train in the Elmer Redd Strength and Conditioning Center. This is located in the University of Houston Athletics/Alumni center. Daily Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Assisting with supervision, set up, and clean-up of various Strength training programs every day. This will also include attending to daily maintenance of the facility. Expected to take part in an Internship curriculum that will include, exercise science, the art of coaching, educational presentations, debates, homework assignments, and practical application of Strength and Conditioning knowledge acquired. Qualifications: Be in pursuit of an undergraduate/graduate degree in exercise science or related field. Certified in CPR/First aid. Have a strong desire to be a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach and pursuing CSCCa-SCCC, and/or NSCA-CSCS certifications. Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work varied hours. Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer position.
