SMU: Based on everything we're hearing, we'd be pretty surprised if Sonny Dykes isn't the new head coach at SMU tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Georgia Southern: Sources tell FootballScoop App State co-defensive coordinator Scot Sloan has agreed to become new defensive coordinator at Georgia Southern. Sloan previously coached defensive backs at Southern from 2002-05. He has been at App State since 2010.

SMU: Sources tell FootballScoop former Louisiana Tech & Cal head coach Sonny Dykes remains a very strong candidate for the SMU head job. Dykes served as an offensive analyst at TCU this season. We've heard Todd Graham had a conversation about the job as well. Interim head coach Jeff Traylor was interviewed yesterday. Hear this one could be wrapped up very soon.

South Alabama: Source tells FootballScoop Mike Bangtson will be the new offensive line coach at South Alabama. Bangtson is currently offensive quality control at Virginia Tech, previously served as a grad assistant with Justin Fuente's staff at Memphis prior to VT. Before heading to Memphis, Bangtson coached at Upper Iowa and was a grad assistant at Northwest Missouri State.

Arkansas: SMU director of football operations Randy Ross has joined Chad Morris' staff at Arkansas in the same capacity. Ross, who served at SMU the past 9 seasons, previously spent 17 years at Alabama.

South Alabama: Source tells FootballScoop Notre Dame defensive grad assistant Harland Bower is headed to South Alabama as defensive line coach. Prior to joining the staff at Notre Dame, Bower coached outside linebackers for Steve Campbell at Central Arkansas.

Florida: Houston offensive coordinator Brian Johnson is rejoining Dan Mullen (for whom he worked under at Mississippi State before going to Houston) at Florida. He will coach the quarterbacks source tells FootballScoop.

South Alabama: Central Arkansas corners coach Josh Jones has moved to South Alabama in the same capacity source tells FootballScoop.

UCLA: Paul Rhoads, who spent last season coordinating the defense at Arkansas, has been hired to coach the secondary on Chip Kelly's staff, per a tweet from Bruce Feldman.

UMass: Source tells FootballScoop special teams coordinator Mark Michaels will not return.

Chicago Bears: Ian Rapoport reports that several coaches on John Fox' staff "believe that it will not end well this season for Fox".

Detroit Lions: Ian Rapoport reports this morning the "multi-year" extension Jim Caldwell received a few months back truly is a one year deal with club options. The Lions are 6-6. Keep an eye on this situation...

Middle Georgia State (NAIA):Middle Georgia State University is a NAIA school that competes in the NCFA football league. We are looking for a guarantee NAIA or D-III away game for the 2018 Season. Texas: University of Texas has hired TCU AD Chris Del Conte; and Chris got himself a very nice package.

Florida: Sources tell FootballScoop Dan Mullen has now offered Mississippi State head strength coach Nick Savage the same role at Florida. Savage has accepted, we are told. Mullen promoted Savage from assistant to head strength coach before the 2016 season.

Central Arkansas (FCS): As we reported was expected a few days ago, UCA has officially named offensive coordinator Nathan Brown their new head coach.

Anderson University (D-III - IN): Anderson, a Christian University, is looking to fill two positions, Offensive Line/Co-Offensive Coordinator and Defensive Coordinator. One of the two positions listed will serve as Strength & Conditioning Coordinator as a secondary responsibility for AU Athletics (CSCS required) and will be a 12 month position, the other position is a 10 month agreement. Responsibilities include coaching, recruitment and retention of academically qualified student-athletes. Applicant must commit to the AU mission and Christian lifestyle.
