Yesterday at ACC Media Day, Mark Richt was asked about one of the hottest trends of college football last year - the turnover chain. Judging from the attention it got last year, it should come as no surprise that Richt thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread.
Richt shared the turnover chain will be definitely be back in 2018 and shared an interesting story on how he didn't know anything about it until Manny Diaz mentioned it just before kickoff at their first game.
Say what you want about the prop, the Hurricanes forced an ACC leading 30 turnovers last season, so that chain got a lot of screen time. That led to songs about it, custom t-shirts, turnover chain businesses. and a load of other spin offs trying to capitalize on its popularity. Over the course of the season, the Turnover Chain accumlated a number of fans, and also a healthy amount of copy cats as well as college and high school programs around the country attempted to put their own stamp on football's latest trend. That brings me to this tweet that I came across, from Deerick Smith, the strength and conditioning coordinator at Southside Charter HS (AR), where they have developed The House Call.
The turnover chain has a lot of imitators. But this one has to be a favorite. Every household and school has one of these laying around, right?
