Dale Williams is no stranger to Atlantic Coast Conference football, or a Jeff Brohm-led program.
Now the veteran offensive line coach is poised to return to both.
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Brohm's Louisville program is targeting Williams to become its new offensive line coach.
A finalized deal would have Williams as the replacement for the departed Richard Owens, whom FootballScoop first reported in early February was being targeted to join Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer's Crimson Tide staff.
In Williams, Brohm is poised to bring back a veteran coach with some 25 years' experience in the college game and also extended experience in Brohm's systems.
The duo coached together for a lengthy run at Purdue University and then Williams also was previously on staff at Louisville as a senior offensive analyst. He spent the previous two seasons at Syracuse, where he helped an O-line that protected quarterback Kyle McCord in a record-setting passing season for the Orange. McCord became a 2025 NFL Draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams exited Syracuse in December 2025.
Other coaching stops for the former West Virginia Mountaineers offensive lineman include at his alma mater, as well as also with Brohm at Western Kentucky. Williams additionally has coached at Florida Atlantic University as well as at the NCAA Division II level.
Louisville is coming off a nine-win season under Brohm, its third season of nine or more wins since Brohm returned to lead his alma mater before the 2023 season.
The Cardinals are scheduled to open their 2026 campaign against College Football Playoff semifinalist Ole Miss in Nashville with the game set for kick-off either Saturday, Sept. 5, or Sunday, Sept. 6.
