Following Charlene Sumlin's publication of a racist letter sent to the Sumlins' home last week, there was -- predictably, sadly -- a conspiracy corner of the Internet that speculated the letter was a hoax.
A letter posted to Mrs. Sumlin's Twitter account on Sunday will end any doubt. The wife of the Texas A&M coach said the family will pursue criminal prosecution against the as yet unnamed sender. "(Law enforcement) asked us if we wanted to press charges and I couldn't answer "YES, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW" fast enough," she wrote. "I want to make an example of this person. I want everyone to understand that I will do anything to PROTECT MY FAMILY. Period. I literally cannot wait to look this person eye to eye. There is a real unique kind of cowardice in someone to anonymously criticize, ridicule or threaten another person. If I have the opportunity to expose even ONE troll. I am going to do it."
The letter was sent to the Sumlins' home unsigned, with the return address listed as the Houston Country Club.
Texas A&M beat Nicholls State 24-14 on Saturday night, bringing the Aggies' record to a level 1-1.
