After announcing the salaries for Nick Saban's six new assistants last month, Alabama on Monday revealed the salaries for new offensive coordinator Mike Locksley and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi.
Locksley and Lupoi, of course, are not new to the staff, but new to their positions. Locksley was promoted from co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach after Daboll left for the Buffalo Bills, while Lupoi ascended from outside linebackers coach when Jeremy Pruitt became Tennessee's head coach.
Locksley's salary was doubled from $600,000 to $1.2 million, making him the highest-paid assistant on staff. Lupoi earned a $150,000 raise from $950,000 to $1.1 million. Locksley's salary is identical to Daboll's 2017 haul, while Lupoi is slightly behind Pruitt's $1.3 million salary.
With Monday's news, offensive line coach Brent Key and running backs coach Joe Pannunzio are the only holdovers from the 2017 staff yet to have their '18 salaries revealed. Pannunzio moved from tight ends and special teams to running backs following Burton Burns's retirement from on-the-field coaching and replaced by Jeff Banks. Key is the only Alabama assistant to carry his identical title and responsibility over from 2017 to '17. Even with Locksley and Lupoi's raises, Alabama is still behind Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia in staff pay. See the full salary chart below.
