Holiday Bowl: Tonight's game between UCLA and NC State is being cancelled due to COVID issues among the UCLA defensive line. Dave Doeren said he felt lied to after not learning of the Bruins' issues until the game was canceled.
Alabama: Offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has joined the team in Dallas ahead of Friday's Cotton Bowl semifinal after testing positive for COVID-19 last week.
Liberty: Sources tell FootballScoop former Nevada, Louisville, Arkansas, Iowa State, etc... assistant Chris Klenakis is set to become Hugh Freeze' new offensive line coach. Klenakis is currently an offensive analyst on staff at South Alabama.
Tampa Bay Bucs: Head coach Bruce Arians has tested positive for COVID-19. He is vaccinated. Assistant head coach/run game coordinator Harold Goodwin will lead the team in his stead.
Duke: Texas A&M analyst Harland Bower will coach defensive ends at Duke, tweets Peth Thamel. Bower has been with Mike Elko since Notre Dame and coached on-the-field at South Alabama and Central Arkansas.
North Carolina Central (FCS): North Carolina Central University has offensive and defensive graduate assistant coaching openings working with the offensive and defensive line. These position will start immediately. Position will be responsible for assisting the position coaches, OC and DC as well as other duties assigned by the Head Coach. A bachelor’s degree (3.0 GPA) and acceptance into a graduate program at NCCU is required. Collegiate-level playing or coaching experience is preferred. There will be breakdown responsibilities, DVSport, Visio, and Microsoft office experience required. The graduate assistant coaching position provides full tuition (the student is responsible for all fees associated with the classes), room and board. Youngstown State (FCS - OH): Linebackers coach Bryan Nardo is no longer with the program and is pursuing other opportunities. Nardo has been a finalist for a few D-II head coaching jobs this off season and was a 2019 selection for the AFCA's 35 Under 35 Leadership Institute. Before joining the Youngstown State staff, Nardo was the defensive coordinator at Emporia State (D-II) for eight seasons.
Iowa Wesleyan (NAIA - IA): Iowa Wesleyan University has an immediate opening for 2 graduate assistants (Best Fit) with a start date of Jan 17th, 2022. Applicants must be accepted into the graduate program with a 2.9 GPA. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, equipment organization, practice planning, coaching a position group, leading meetings, film break down, player evaluation and recruiting, promotion and marketing of the program, and assisting in general day to day football operations. This position pays full tuition towards a masters degree, housing, small stipend and a some meals. Jacksonville Jaguars: As widely expected, the Jags have requested permission to speak with Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and Bucs offensive coordinator (and former Jaguars star quarterback) Byron Leftwich, multiple reports share. The organization has also requested to interview both Dallas Cowboys coordinators Dan Quinn (DC) and Kellen Moore (OC), Adam Schefter adds.
RPI (D-III - NY): The school has announced that head coach Ralph Isernia’s contract has been extended for five years.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Trent Baalke is being retained for the 2022 season and will be involved with owner Shad Khan for the search for their head coach, Ian Rapoport shares today.
Washington: Mitch Dahlen has joined the staff in a offensive analyst role. Dahlen previously served as an offensive analyst at Fresno State.
Campbell (FCS - NC): Defensive quality control coach Patrick Miller has been promoted to safeties coach and Matthew Chiappelli will be promoted from defensive analyst to defensive quality control coach. Chiappelli previously served as the offensive coordinator at Alvernia University (D-III - PA) from 2018-20 and Miller previously served on the Louisiana-Monroe staff as an assistant linebackers coach.
East Central CC (JC - MS): East Central Community College (MS) is currently seeking two volunteer coaches/part-time student services assistants, preferably with Mississippi ties, for the 2022-23 season. The two positions are running backs on offense and linebackers or safeties on defense. This position is a nine-month position that requires competent computer skills (Hudl, and Microsoft Office). Duties will include working with student services and monitoring a campus dorm. Compensation is based on an hourly wage with meals, insurance and dorm housing provided.
