Very sad to pass along news that Kirby Smart's father, Sonny has died. Sonny fell while walking in New Orleans on New Year's Eve. He had surgery to fix his broken hip; but complications arose and God decided now was his time. Sonny was a great man and excellent football coach. Midwestern State (D-II - TX): Texas Tech senior offensive analyst Kirk Bryant will be the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Midwestern State, sources confirm to FootballScoop. CBS first reported.
Auburn: Special teams coordinator Tanner Burns will now also serve as an analyst / assist with the defensive backs sources tell FootballScoop.
Detroit Lions: If the Lions win Sunday and secure the number 1 seed in the NFC Playoffs, coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn can conduct virtual head coaching interviews as soon as Wednesday, but if they were to lose and play in next weekend's wild-card game, virtual head coaching interviews would have to wait until Tuesday January 14th.
New York Giants: Jonathan Jones shares that the belief remains that both GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll will continue with the team into the 2025 season.

Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan has an immediate opening for a Creative Coordinator within itβs Football Program. This is a full-time position that is paid hourly and includes benefits. FootballScoop Coaches of the Year: The full slate of on-field Coaches of the Year have been announced. Monday we will announce winners of Strength Coach of the Year and Directors of Player Personnel and Operations of the Year.
Miles (D-II - AL): Chris Goode, a former player at Alabama and in the NFL, has accepted the head coaching job. This will mark his first head coaching opportunity at the college level after previously serving as a defensive coordinator for the Birmingham Steeldogs. He takes over a program that went 10-3 last fall with a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.
West Virginia: Former Boise State safeties coach Gabe Franklin will be joining the staff, per Chris Anderson who adds that he will likely coach the Mountaineer safeties.
West Texas A&M (D-II): Co-special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach Justin Richter is being promoted to defensive coordinator, per Cory Hogue.
Santa Barbara City (JC - CA): Santa Barbara City College is looking to fill two part-time positions (OL and WR). One of the positions would need expertise in strength and conditioning. Interested candidates can contact moropoulos@sbcc.edu.

Towson (FCS - MD): Sources tell FootballScoop Adam Neugebauer has accepted the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks position at Towson. Neugebauer spent the past several seasons working at East Tennessee State (FCS), Tiffin (D-II - OH) and McNeese State (FCS - LA).
West Virginia: Rod West, who has served as pass game coordinator and corners coach at App State the past four seasons, is joining the staff in Morgantown, per Pete Thamel.
Texas Tech: Rob Greene, Tulane's defensive backs coach, has accepted the safeties job. Green and new defensive coordinator Shiel Wood previously worked alongside each other at three previous stops.

Montclair State (D-III - NJ): Joe LaSala has accepted the quarterbacks / pass game coordinator job. He previously coached the receivers at Fairliegh Dickinson (FCS - NJ).

Wisconsin: Pete Thamel shares that Luke Fickell is moving receivers coach Kenny Guiton to quarterbacks coach, a role he assumed following the dismissal of Phil Longo while also calling the offense the remainder of the season as interim offensive coordinator.
Ohio: Arizona State assistant special teams coordinator / chief of staff Matt Butterfield has accepted the special teams coordinator / running backs job at Ohio, per multiple reports. Butterfield has previous stops at UCLA and Boise State in college football.
Georgia vs. Notre Dame: Kirby Smart contends that Notre Dame's brilliant late game sub on punt during critical fourth-and-one was illegal, and that came directly from SEC head of officials.
Charlotte: LSU senior analyst Todd Fitch is joining the staff as offensive coordinator, sources confirm to FootballScoop. Multiple other outlets have shared the same.
Arkansas State: The program has now formally announced the addition of Jalen Ortiz as corners coach. He served in the same capacity at Utah State last fall.
UCF: Scott Frost and the program are finalizing a deal to bring Mark D'Onofrio to the defensive staff, Ross Dellenger shares. He spent the last two years at Stanford and Wisconsin and has previously called defenses at Miami, Temple, and Houston.
UNLV: The program has announced the additions of Adrian Mayes (TEs / run game coordinator), Kyle Hoke (safeties), Mike Sollenne (OL), Adam Scheier (STC), and Corey Dennis (OC / QBs).
Miami: Taylor Edwards, who had been set to join the UNC staff with Bill Belichick in a key off-field capacity, is now expected to join Mario Cristobal's staff in a high-ranking personnel role, according to CBS Sports.
Michigan State: Oregon State tight ends coach Jon Boyer has accepted the quarterbacks job in East Lansing, per multiple reports.
Tulane: LSU graduate assistant Kanan Ray is set to join the Green Wave staff as assistant offensive line coach, per CBS Sports.
