Pep Hamilton will reportedly be the new offensive coordinator at Maryland (Stanford)

Mike Locksley is preparing to fill his vacant offensive coordinator job with a veteran play caller with both college and NFL experience.

Pep Hamilton, who served as the offensive coordinator with the Houston Texans during the 2022 season, is expected to become the new offensive play caller for Locksley's program.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was among the first to share the news.

Hamilton served in coordinator roles for the Texans and Colts in the NFL and at the college level at Stanford and Michigan in addition to a stint as the head coach and GM of the DC Defenders of the XFL in 2020.

The move will allow Pep to be very close to his son, Jackson, who has signed to play for the Terps as a quarterback.

Just a few weeks ago, Hamilton interviewed for the head coaching job with the Patriots - a job that eventually went to former Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel. Locksley himself also interviewed for an NFL head coaching job, with the Jets this off season.

At Maryland, Hamilton replaces former Broyles Award winner Josh Gattis, who Mike Locksley decided to part ways with at the end of the season.
