Hurricane Helene forces rescheduling of Alabama A&M-Florida A&M game (Florida A&M Football)

Florida A&M and Alabama A&M have rescheduled their game, scheduled for this Saturday, due to the expected landing of Hurricane Helene, FAMU announced Tuesday.

The game will now be played Friday, Nov. 29. It will remain at FAMU's Bragg Memorial Stadium.

The storm, technically now a Tropical Storm but expected to be classified as a hurricane by Wednesday, could become a Category 3 hurricane with winds up to 115 mph by the time it makes landfall on Thursday night, according to the Tallahassee Democrat

"Due to the forecast large size of this system, storm surge, wind, and rainfall impacts will extend well away from the center, particularly on the east side. In addition, the fast forward speed while it crosses the coast will likely result in farther inland penetration of strong winds over parts of the southeastern United States after landfall," the National Hurricane Center advisory warned.

"Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff," FAMU acting AD Michael Smith said. "Given the uncertainty surrounding Hurricane Helene, we feel it is in everyone's best interest to reschedule the game."

Florida A&M, 2-2 with two losses to FBS opponents, will now get back in action Oct. 5 at Alabama State. The postponement of the Alabama A&M game means the Rattlers will play one game at Bragg Memorial Stadium until Southern visits on Oct. 26.
