Brent Thompson served as head coach of The Citadel seven seasons.
After coming out of the blocks hot, Thompson's Bulldogs went 10-2 in his first season, Thompson's teams seem to struggle to pile up wins over the next six seasons as head coach.
The 2022 season would be his last leading the Bulldogs and he accepted the director of recruiting operations position at East Carolina. Following the 2023 season with ECU, Thompson decided he wanted to make a change.
"I really wanted to own and run my own business" Thompson told Scott Eisberg of WCIV in Charleston, SC.
Referencing the changing landscape of college football over the past four years, Thompson notes the challenges associated with NIL, the transfer portal and more.
Thompson's brother suggested he look into opening a franchise of Whit's frozen custard and several months later, this is now a reality.
With this heat, what sounds better than a big cup of frozen custard?

Whit's on James Island, now serving it up & you may recognize the guy bringing it to you.

If you are passing through the Charleston area, specifically James Island, stop into Whit's and enjoy some frozen custard with coach Thompson.
