Florida Atlantic has made two promotions in its personnel department, and (likely) made history in the process.
Jeff Love was promoted from director of player personnel to executive director of player personnel and general manager, where he will oversee both sides of FAU's talent acquisition efforts.
Love joined Tom Herman's staff in 2023, having recently been cleared by the NCAA to return to college football after former Kansas AD Jeff Long tried to run him out of the game as part of a harebrained scheme to avoid paying former Jayhawks head coach David Beaty's buyout. Love spent three seasons coaching high school football before he was cleared to return to the college game in 2022, where he joined the University of the Cumberlands staff in a variety of roles. Prior to that, Love spent 2016-18 at Kansas, where he became the first video coordinator in college football history promoted directly to an on-field role, serving as quarterbacks coach.
With Love now heading all of FAU's acquisition efforts, the Owls have promoted Ryan Beer from director of scouting to director of player personnel.
At 21 years old, Beer is believed to be the youngest player personnel director in FBS history.
Beer graduated from FAU in May with a Bachelor's degree in business management while working within the Owls' personnel office as an undergraduate. He maintained the coaches' communication schedules with prospects, scouted opposing offenses, and developed and managed the staff's "Big Board" in recruiting. He served as FAU's director of scouting while finishing his undergraduate degree.
Congratulations to Jeff Love @Coach_JLove and Ryan Beer @CoachBeerFAU on their promotions within our organization!๐๏ธ
