After signing a 7-year extension that averaged $8.05 million a year last February, Norvell signed another extension that, we now know through documents released Monday, will start at $10 million in 2024 and rise by $150,000 per year.
The previous extension was set to pay Norvell $7.335 for the 2024 season.
Announced Jan. 12, just before Alabama announced the hiring of Kalen DeBoer, Norvell is now under contract through 2031 (the previous deal expired after 2029) with his base salary breaking down as follows:
2024 -- $10.0 million
2025 -- $10.150 million
2026 -- $10.3 million
2027 -- $10.450 million
2028 -- $10.6 million
2029 -- $10.750 million
2030 -- $10.9 million
2031 -- $11.05 million
Norvell would owe $6 million if he left after 2024, and nothing if he left after 2030. Bonuses range from $950,000 for winning a national championship to $50,000 for a conference coach of the year award.
