Former Nevada and San Jose State assistant coach Eric Scott is now the head coach at West LA College, Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.
Scott was the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator on Brent Brennan's San Jose State staff from 2021-23. He did not join Brennan at Arizona and was not retained by new head coach Ken Niumatalolo. Scott was Nevada's wide receivers coach from 2017-20.
Prior to that, Scott built a career as one of the top names in the Los Angeles football community.
A former UCLA wide receiver who earned a Master's degree at USC, Scott helped Crenshaw High School win six Coliseum League championships in seven seasons as an assistant from 1999-05. After one season as a coaching intern and one as wide receivers coach at UCLA, Scott became the head coach at Centennial High School in Compton in 2008.
Scott then became the offensive coordinator at Jordan High in Long Beach and at LA's Hamilton High before taking over at Los Angeles High School in 2014. His team won 11 games and reached the CIF City Section championship all three seasons before taking the Nevada job after the 2016 campaign.
Scott takes over a West LA program that went 2-8 in 2023, one win coming via forfeit. The Cougars' season begins Sept. 7 against LA Southwest.
