Jim Mora is adding a former NFL assistant that previously worked for his father with the Colts to his staff at UConn.
John Pagano, who worked under Jim Mora Sr. as a defensive assistant in Indianapolis from 1998-2001, has been announced as a special assistant to Jim Mora Jr. at UConn.
Pagano hasn't been on a college staff since his graduate assistant days at UNLV, Louisiana Tech and Ole Miss in the mid-to-late 90's. He made the jump to the NFL in 1998 and remained there until 2021.
He has most recently coached the outside linebackers with the Broncos (2020-21) and was a senior defensive assistant for the Texans for a few years as well.
His resume includes two defensive coordinator stops in the NFL with the Chargers (2005-11), where he spnt over a decade working his way up from a defensive assistant and quality control coach to outside linebackers coach before taking over the play calling duties, as well as with the Raiders (2017).
