Purdue special teams coordinator Tony Levine tweeted this morning, explaining his decision to step away from coaching.
"It's been a privilege and an honor to be a coach for the past 22 years. I will always cherish the friendships and relationships, and the memories we've made will last a lifetime. our children are now 12, 10, 8 & 6, and I feel that this is the right time for me to step away from coaching in order to make my family my priority. 10 years ago we moved to Houston, and my wife and immediately fell in love with the city, as wel as the state of Texas. We decided then that we were going to raise our family in Houston, and make that our home. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes -- my family and I will be cheering for the Purdue football team, Coach Brohm and his staff. I'm proud to have been a part of the beginning of the turnaround and I look forward to watching Purdue's continued success."
Levine served as Houston's head coach 2012 - 2014 going 21-17 as head coach of the Cougars. Following a year off, Levine coordinated special teams at Western Kentucky and Purdue for Jeff Brohm.
Connections in Houston tell FootballScoop Levine is expected to own his own business outside of football in the Houston area.
Although an incredibly noble profession; there is no doubt coaching at the college level puts you on the road a lot and can stress the family situation. We wish Tony the best of luck in all his future endeavors, most importantly raising his wonderful family. God bless.
