McKinney went 12-35 as the head coach at Texas Southern, with the best season leading the Tigers coming in 2022 with a 5-6 finish. A veteran college assistant with stops at Houston, Texas A&M and Arizona, he was the Aggies offensive coordinator in 2013 and served as the head coach at Yates HS (TX) from 2005-07.
