Ryan Osborn has been an NFL assistant and coordinated defenses at the Football Bowls Subdivision level.
Now, Osborn is heading to the Big 12 Conference, sources tell FootballScoop.
Mike Gundy is working to finalize a deal with Osborn to coach the defensive line at Oklahoma State, sources shared.
Most recently, Osborn coordinated the defense the past two seasons for the Charlotte 49ers. Prior to that he was a defensive assistant with the NFL's Baltimore Ravens.
As FootballScoop first reported last week, Gundy made deep changes to his Oklahoma State coaching staff after the Cowboys absorbed their worst season -- 3-9 -- in Gundy's 20 seasons at the helm.
Osborn has been a graduate assistant in the Southeastern Conference at both Florida and Mississippi State; he served as a defensive analyst for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan in 2021.
Sources also shared with FootballScoop that Gundy has conducted numerous conversations for his next offensive and defensive coordinators, with two different sources telling FootballScoop that Gundy is on the verge of his offensive hire, pending formal approval.
He's been speaking with coaches at both the collegiate and NFL levels, sources added, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
