NAIA program Edward Waters College is making a move to show the program is serious about ratcheting up its commitment to winning.
Per sources, new EWC head coach Toriano Morgan is adding Brian Jenkins to his fledgling staff as assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Jenkins' star was once dramatically on the rise in college football.
He had stints as both head coach at Football Championship Subdivision Bethune-Cookman and Alabama State.
Prior to taking over the ASU program, Jenkins had guided Bethune-Cookman to a quartet of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships.
Jenkins has worked at the Football Bowls Subdivision at Rutgers, Bowling Green and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in addition to spending a year in the now-defunct NFL Europe with the Frankfurt Galaxy.
As a head coach, Jenkins logged a 55-26 overall record to complement his four MEAC crowns. His Bethune teams won eight or more games in each of his five seasons.
That success didn't transfer to Alabama State, where Jenkins never won more than six games and finished his tenure at 9-17 in less than three seasons.
Edward Waters was just 2-12 since 2019 when it made the move to tab Morgan as head coach. Morgan had spent the past two seasons on the Virginia State staff.
