Competition is a staple of many programs, and as Thomas Hammock looks to build his alma mater in his first stop as a head coach, competition is a cornerstone for the new direction he and his staff are taking the program.
With that in mind, Hammock's roster had a single scholarship open, so during a recent team meeting he called two walk ons to the front of the room for a head-to-head competition.
The name of the game? A new trend called Shadowboxing. I don't know the exact rules, but take a look and you'll quickly understand the basic premise. One guy points a direction while delivering a fake punch, while the other person guesses which direction will be chosen by turning their face that way.
Vinny Labus and Rahveon Valentine go head to head for three rounds to determine who gets their school paid for.
Then Hammock surprises everyone in the room when it comes to name the final scholarship recipient. See the video for that moment.
