Antonio Pierce went 5-4 as the team's interim head coach in 2023, but was unable to match that win total in his first full season leading the Raiders.
What many thought was a great fit between Pierce and the Raiders turned sour after a 4-13 campaign, and the Raiders front office decided it was time for a change.
After interviewing, or requesting interviews with 8 candidates, not including reportedly gauging the interest of both Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel, the Raiders decided to hire 72-year old Pete Carroll.
