LSU set to bring back former defensive line coach (Pete Jenkins)

After giving up a school record 706 yards in their loss to Ole Miss on Saturday, Brian Kelly is set to bring Pete Jenkins on staff.

According to multiple reports late last night, Jenkins will serve as an analyst for the program.

Jenkins coached at LSU three different times during his coaching career, spending a total of 15 seasons in Baton Rouge before ultimately retiring following the 2017 season.

During his coaching career, Jenkins was widely regarded as one of the top defensive line coaches in football with stops at Auburn, Florida, USC, and Mississippi State and also spent a few seasons in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, who was hired away from South Carolina back in the spring and has worked camps closely with Jenkins in the past, has been away from the team since training camp dealing with a health issue.

LSU moved outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator John Jancek to defensive line, and moved defensive analyst Bob Diaco into Jancek’s previous role to fill the opening on staff.

The addition of Jenkins will give the Tigers defense another veteran voice on the defensive side of the ball at a time when they're searching for answers on defense after giving up 86 points and over 1,100 yards in their past two games combined.
