Curt Cignetti: Why would I leave? We're an emerging superpower in college football (quote)

Curt Cignetti has been an absolute quote machine in his first season in Bloomington.

To recap, it started with "I win. Google me."

Not long after that it was "Purdue sucks. But so does Michigan and Ohio State," at a packed basketball game at Assembly Hall.

With games against the Buckeyes next weekend and a season finale against the Boilermakers (where the Hoosiers will be heavy, heavy favorites), Cig has backed up every, single word thus far.

That has Bloomington in an absolute fall frenzy, and in position for campus to host at least one college football playoff game if they can win those next two games.

Fresh off the news he'd inked a new eight-year deal that will put him among the highest paid coaches in the Big Ten and among the top 16 nationally making at least $8 million annually, Cignetti delivered another great line while appearing on Big Noon Kickoff.

Asked what were some of the most important elements in getting a deal done, Cig talked about how Indiana's brass was proactive in getting the ball rolling and not being concerned about other jobs potentially opening.

"You know, some people ask why would you do that when this one may open, or that one may open, and you're going to be a hot commodity and blah, blah, blah."

"The fact of the matter is we're the emerging superpower in college football. Why would I leave?"

Indiana. Emerging college football superpower. 2024.

Incredible.
