Bret Bielema, Illinois tabbing Notre Dame’s Dre Brown for key DPP role (Illinois Football Recruiting)

Dre Brown, a former Illinois running back, is returning home, sources tell FootballScoop. Bret Bielema is bringing Brown home to serve as the director of player personnel for the Illinois program.

Under Irish general manager Chad Bowden, Brown has helped as Notre Dame has turned heads nationally in the recruiting landscape.

After three consecutive top-12 classes, two of them consensus top-9, Notre Dame has surged in its recruiting profile with Bowden, Brown and charismatic young head coach Marcus Freeman.

Just this spring, Notre Dame has or will have hosted more than 1,000 student athletes during its spring camp.

With Brown heading to his alma mater, Bowden’s recruiting network continues to grow.

Max Steinecker at Wisconsin, Caleb Davis at Troy, Landon Yount at MTSU and Jeremy Larkin worked for Bowden as a recruiting analyst and now is a position coach at Youngstown State.

Notre Dame also recently hired Deland McCullough Jr. as a recruiting analyst.
