Former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone is taking an off-field role on Bill O'Brien's new Boston College staff.
According to a report Saturday from ESPN, Marrone will be a senior analyst for football strategy and research for the Eagles.
O'Brien and Marrone worked together on Alabama's 2021 staff, with O'Brien as the Crimson Tide's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and Marrone the offensive line coach, and at Georgia Tech in the late 1990s. Then, Marrone coached the Yellow Jackets' tight ends and O-linemen, and O'Brien was a GA and later running backs coach.
The pair also crossed paths plenty of times in the NFL. O'Brien made his name as an offensive assistant for the New England Patriots and later as head coach of the Houston Texans, and Marrone served as an assistant for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints before landing head jobs in Buffalo and Jacksonville, following four years as the head coach at Syracuse.
After Alabama, O'Brien returned to the Patriots while Marrone spent the past two seasons as the O-line coach for the Saints.
As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
