A high school program went into semifinal game with just 11 available players...and dominated (Pennsylvania)

Two Fridays ago, Westinghouse HS (PA) was playing University Prep when an altercation broke out that led to 38 Westinghouse players being suspended for the next week's game.

Westinghouse, a strong program that played for the Class 2A state title each of the past two seasons, got the news last Wednesday that they would have to play without nearly 40 players.

That meant that they'd dress just 11 players for their city league semifinal game. Not an ideal situation for any program.

While 11 players were technically available, the coaching staff made the decision to play just 10 on defense, and rest one of their linemen.

So how'd the game shake out?

Well, Westinghouse scored on Perry HS (who dressed just 19 players) on six of their first 15 plays from scrimmage, and led 38-0 at the end of the first quarter.

They took a 60-0 lead into halftime.

The two teams agreed to play two 6-minute quarters in the second half with a running clock, and the game ended in a 68-0 rout.

That 10-player defense held Perry to minus-20 rushing yards too, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

About 30 of the suspended players watched the game from the stands, where they led cheers and chants before joining the team onto the field at the conclusion of the game.

The win sets up a City League title game against Allderdice this week, when those suspended Westinghouse players will be able to play after a rather interesting week.

Below are some videos and highlights from the unforgettable night.
