Miami athletics director Dan Radakovich is expected to step down, according to multiple reports. Yahoo's Ross Dellenger reported Friday that the Miami board was informed today, and that U of M officials and Radakovich are finalizing an exit plan, with Radakovich likely to remain on in an advisory role.
Radakovich began his career in Miami's business office more than 40 years ago while working toward his MBA, and was the AD at American, Georgia Tech and Clemson before taking the Miami job in 2021. The former tight end and punter at Indiana University of Pennsylvania hired Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech, was at the helm for both of Clemson's national titles under Dabo Swinney, and returned to Miami in the same month as Mario Cristobal. Miami has been among the biggest winners of the NIL era: in addition to reaching last season's football title game, Miami's men's basketball team reached their first Final Four in 2023, and the women advanced to their first Elite Eight the same year.
With Radakovich on his way out, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Miami is looking to replace him with a familiar name and face in college athletics: Michael Yormark.
The twin brother of Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark, Michael has also worked a twin career. He's currently the president of Roc Nation Sports's international division, and previously served as president and CEO of the NHL's Florida Panthers, who play in the Miami area. Brett Yormark was Roc Nation's COO before taking over the Big 12 in 2022.
