Braxton Harris adding ACC staffer to his Campbell program (Featured)

As Braxton Harris continues to retool his Campbell Camels program, the third-year head coach is adding another key piece to his defensive staff makeover.

Former Pittsburgh defensive assistant TJ Minnifee is joining Harris' Football Championship Subdivision Campbell organization as the outside linebackers coach.

The move is another strong addition for Harris, who earlier hired Brandon Butcher away from Football Bowls Subdivision resident UTEP to become Campbell's new defensive coordinator.

Butcher and Minnifee previously worked together in Jason Simpson's UT-Martin program, where Butcher had served as defensive coordinator and Minnifee had been an assistant coach.

Minnifee has collegiate experience coaching on both sides of the football.

But most recently, Minnifee had been on Pat Narduzzi's Pitt Panthers staff. He had been an off-field defensive assistant for the Panthers, working under Narduzzi, as well as veteran former defensive coordinator Randy Bates and assistant head coach Cory Sanders.

Minnifee played collegiately for Simpson at UT-Martin as a reserve.

Harris first rose to acclaim at Campbell as architect of the program's unprecedented recruiting classes earlier this decade, with the FCS Camels out-recruiting multiple FBS and even some Power Conference programs with signing hauls that ranked among the nation's best in their division in 2021-22.

He then took over at Houston Christian and generated a 5-5 mark in one year before Campbell hired him to return to North Carolina.

The Camels are scheduled to open Year 3 under Harris in a Week Zero game on Aug. 29, 2026, at Will Healy's ETSU Buccaneers program in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Campbell then has a non-conference home game against in-state foe Western Carolina, coached by former Florida star quarterback Kerwin Bell, before traveling to the Florida Gators on Sept. 12 in just that program's second game under new head coach Jon Sumrall.
