Sources: TCU adding fast-rising, ex-Furman star to offensive staff (Featured)

Some three years ago, Antonio Wilcox was a bright, young assistant on Clay Hendrix's Furman University staff.

Now?

Wilcox is about to get his first, full-time Power Conference coaching post.

Sources tell FootballScoop that TCU and head coach Sonny Dykes plan to make Wilcox the next running backs coach for the Horned Frogs program.

In 2022, Wilcox helped Furman's Dominic Roberto to a nearly 1,200-yard season.

A year later, he was Jim Mora Jr.'s running backs coach in the resurgent UConn Huskies program.

Mora Jr. is now the head coach at Colorado State, accepting the job last month following his UConn rebuild.

And Wilcox is set to take over the running backs room at a TCU program just a few years removed from playing for the College Football Playoff Championship and just days removed from dispatching USC in the Alamo Bowl.

WIlcox was a star tailback himself at Furman, where for three years he shined in the Paladins backfield and closed with a 14-touchdown campaign in 2017 as Furman advanced to the FCS Playoffs in the program's first season with Hendrix as head coach.

At TCU, Wilcox is set to replace the departing Jimmy Smith. The Horned Frogs are resetting their offense after seeing Kendal Briles part ways with the program to begin a stint as Shane Beamer's offensive coordinator at South Carolina.
