Reports: Jeff Brohm turns down Penn State, will remain at Louisville (jeff brohm)

Jeff Brohm is turning down Penn State to remain at Louisville, according to multiple reports on Wednesday. U of L and Brohm are in the process of keeping the coach at his alma mater.

Brohm emerged as a candidate at Penn State as a possible antidote to James Franklin's struggles. The former NFL quarterback has documented success developing the position, a consistent source of underwhelming results under Franklin, and has a 4-4 record against the AP top-5 at Purdue and Louisville, compared to Franklin's 4-21 mark at Penn State.

Overall, Brohm is 27-12 in three seasons on the job with one trip to the ACC Championship. His 2025 team started 7-1 and rose to No. 15, including a road win at the-No. 2 Miami, but the Cardinals endured a 3-game losing streak to end their conference season. The Cards clubbed Kentucky 41-0 to win the Commonwealth Cup to close the regular season, a game that turned out to be Mark Stoops's last at Kentucky.

Of course, Brohm is not just a U of L alum, he's a Louisville native and a member of the royal family of Louisville football -- his father was an assistant high school coach in the city -- so prying him out of Louisville was never going to be easy. He emerged as a candidate after BYU's Kalani Sitake also turned down Penn State to remain at his alma mater

Penn State fired Franklin on Oct. 12 and today is National Signing Day.

A source tells FootballScoop that upper-level university administration is now getting involved in the Penn State search for the first time.
